The Adidas Campus 80s collection

Originally created for basketball players although their appearance is more reminiscent of shoes intended for skateboarders, the Adidas Campus 80s have survived several decades to return to current taste in 2023.

Originally, instead of being adopted by the basketball players for whom they were initially designed, it was members of American hip-hop culture of the 1980s and 1990s who made them their must-have. The group Beastie Boys even sported them on the cover of their album Check Your Head in 1992. It was this springboard that helped the Campus 80s rise to the rank of essential Campus trainers , and the B-Boys then confirmed their status as major players in the style of the time.

BAPE x Adidas 80s Campus

Among the notable collaborations of the year 2023 is that between A Bathing Ape, more commonly known as Bape , and the brand with the three stripes. After the Superstar revisited by the Japanese urban fashion house, giving rise to the Adidas Superstar Bape ABC Camo Green as well as the Superstar 80s Bape White Black , it is the turn of the Campus to be redesigned.

The Bape x Adidas Campus 80s celebrate both the 30th anniversary of the streetwear brand created by Nigo in 1993, but also the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the latter and Adidas . These Campuses are adorned with a dark navy blue suede upper on which the Bape Star is affixed on the outer side of the shoe while the other side features the three Adidas white leather stripes. In addition, on the heel is stamped Bape in gold writing just like on the lace lock of the pair.

Released on April 1, 2023 at a price of €150, this collaboration proved that the creative genius of the German brand does not age over the years and makes the 80s a legendary model of the firm, as timeless as it is cool.

After the strong comeback of the Adidas Gazelle and the hype around the Sambas , it seems that it is the turn of the Adidas 80s Campus to be put in the spotlight. Especially since the reinterpretations of this pair of Adidas trainers are piling up in 2023. Brought up to date in a look inspired by the 2000s, the Campus 00s takes up all the characteristics of its previous version, but in an oversized look, which makes it seem intended for skateboarding.

What future for the Adidas Campus 80?

Although it was initially unveiled at the end of the 1970s, the 80s sneaker has not yet said its last word. After multiple limited edition models have emerged in recent years, the Adidas Campus 80 "Croptober" model appears to be the future unofficial successor to the Adidas Campus 80s Towelie imagined by the adult cartoon South Park.

The original Campus 80 Croptober celebrates an event for a rather controversial product around the world. The expression “Four Twenty”, commonly used in North America, designates both the day, April 20, but also the time: 4:20 p.m. And on this day a very special event is celebrated: International Cannabis Day. This day of April 20, in several places around the world, is dedicated to protesting - by smoking cannabis - against its prohibition, and, in the United States where it is widely celebrated, in order to put pressure on Congress to legalize the marijuana, a derivative of cannabis.

This Adidas Campus 80s women's shoe was released on April 20, 2023 during Harvest Day, the start of the cannabis harvest season. It features a detachable beige leather upper resembling wrapping paper, revealing when removed, a leaf green nubuck upper and psychedelic prints on its interior lining.

How big is the Campus 80s?

Adidas is a brand known for small shoes. To ensure that your Campus 80's trainers fit you perfectly, we therefore advise you to choose half a size larger than your usual size. This shoe, with its versatile yet colorful look, will delight both men and women.
