The trend was already in the air with the hashtags #BootsOnlySummer and footballers posing in cleats on the asphalt. Nike captured it, digested it, and transformed it in its own way. The result: Cryoshot , a new collection that draws on the football DNA of the swoosh to offer a lifestyle vision of the football cleat .
But here, there's no question of recycling identical models. Cryoshot is a complete reinterpretation, a meticulous design work that blends heritage and modernity. Behind this almost futuristic name lies a powerful idea: freezing football's greatest icons in ice, the better to bring them back to life on the streets. A kind of stylistic cryogenics.
The first key piece of the pack: the Air Mercurial Cryoshot , which is directly inspired by the shoe worn by Ronaldo during the 1998 World Cup . A model which, at the time, had already broken the codes with its silver, electric blue and bright yellow colorway.
In this reinterpreted version, Nike retains the streamlined silhouette and dynamic undulations of the original, but adds more urban elements: a rounded swoosh, a modernized tongue, and above all, a translucent sole that reveals a stud structure trapped under a layer of ice. It is this detail that gives meaning to the name “Cryoshot”.
Graphically, the shoe evokes the football of the future imagined in the 2000s, with a bold palette and a very strong visual presence. It's a trainer that doesn't seek to be discreet, but to assert its sporting origins as a cultural asset.

The other flagship model in the range is the Tiempo Cryoshot , a lifestyle reinterpretation of the legendary Tiempo Legend 2005. Worn by Ronaldinho in the famous “Touch of Gold” advert, this pair left its mark on a whole generation.
The new version retains its understated, glossy elegance: white upper, deep gold swoosh, minimalist inserts. But what really catches the eye here is the ultra-clear, almost crystalline frosted sole, which transforms the heritage into a designer object.
We're a long way from the muddy studs of the pitches: this Tiempo is made for the pavement, for pure lifestyle, but with the nobility of football still anchored in its lines. It's aimed at those who grew up with Nike ads, R10 wheels and little bridges in the yard.

This launch is no coincidence. By injecting strong references like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho into an urban range , Nike is not just riding the wave of the “football culture” trend: it is clearly preparing the ground for 2026, the year of the next World Cup .
With Cryoshot, Nike is speaking to both nostalgics and Gen Z. The brand is building a bridge between the myth of the cleats of yesteryear and today's street fashion, like Corteiz , which has already adopted this hybrid aesthetic.
This positioning is strategic: offering trainers that carry an emotional and cultural charge, without necessarily being intended for play.

The Nike Cryoshot collection will launch sometime in summer 2025, with no specific release date announced yet. The pairs will be available on Nike.com and then at select retailers like Limited Resell . It's likely that this release will be a limited edition, in multiple waves.
Each model is expected to cost around 200 to 220 euros, depending on final details.
