It is impossible to separate history from collection Air Jordan from its co-creator, Michael Jordan. It all started in the 80s: while Nike is gaining ground on its market, the brand decides to speed things up by offering Jordan to associate with her. Indeed, given the growing popularity of basketball at the time, working with a player like Michael Jordan was definitely a great opportunity. After being approached several times by Nike, the athlete ended up agreeing to join forces with the equipment manufacturer, although he was, at the time, more attracted by the band Adidas. It is therefore in this context that the brand's first shoes were created: they were in fact presented in 1982, during the All-Star Game. From the outset, the first Nike Air Jordan cause a sensation. Released in April 1985, the Air Jordan 1 High was the brand's very first model. This pair of shoes red and black in color was designed by Peter Moore. If this model was a great success, it is partly thanks to Michael's refusal Jordan to comply with certain rules on the ground. Indeed, although the NBA had prohibited the player from wearing his Air Jordan 1 on the floor, the player continued to put on his favorite pair every match. An offense which cost the athlete dearly: each time he defied this ban, the basketball player had to pay a fine of 5,000 dollars. It is therefore with this rebellion movement that the first Air Jordan. It is also this event which allowed Nike to highlight its pair of sneakers and to present it as the incarnation of opposition and power. So far, several versions of this iconic model have seen the light of day.
