Air Jordan 6

The Jordan 6 Retro the stamp of number 23

Six years after the launch of the Air Jordan 1 Mid in 1985, the Jordan 6 became a legend in 1991. The Jordan 6 is an evolution of the Jordan V, the sixth model designed and developed for Le Black Cat. Imagined by legendary designer Tinker Hatfield, this sneaker represents the number 23 of Jordan. Wearing the AJ6, Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to the NBA title in 1991. He was also voted NBA top scorer and Olympic champion. They are considered the most suitable for basketball. Technically, the shoe is designed for the game, with an avant-garde design, yet retains the streetwear vibe that made previous models so successful. Basketball fans have been snapping this model up ever since its release!

The AJ6 synonymous with lightness and finesse

Inspired by the sleek design of Michael's German sports car Jordan, the AJ6 is a unique shoe that stays true to its heritage: the Jordan 4 Retro. He wanted a cleaner model in terms of style and materials, as he appreciated above all the finesse of Italian shoes. Indeed, they were made from a single material with a single yoke, which for him was the world standard.

Compared to the Jordan 5, the Jordan 6 Retro is lighter, slimmer and more functional, thanks to an integrated neoprene tongue with two visible rubber openings on the top of the pair, which allows for better breathability and thus better foot support. The back of the sneaker has been designed in hard plastic with grooves for greater flexibility, leaving a visible air bubble.

This is also the first Jordan model to feature a front reinforcement and a molded structure on the rear. Another new feature is the use of a translucent rubber sole for improved grip. Five colorways have been produced especially for the original version of the pair.

Nike Air Jordan 6, the succession of reissues

The Air Jordan 6 was reissued in the 2000s, complementing the original colorway with three other models, and we can see that the Jumpman logo on the heel replaces the Nike Air. The low-profile version appeared in 2002, and the famous "Defining Moments Package" was launched in 2005. In 2014, the 23rd anniversary of the pair was celebrated by Jordan Brand with numerous releases. Finally, the "Nike Air" branding recently resurfaced to the delight of nostalgic fans, while the classic infrared black colorway makes a comeback with the 2019 version. Multiple elements are retained, including the NikeAir logo on the heel, the Jumpman lace buckle with Nike, the infrared buttons, as well as the reflective elements on the heel and the original nubuck.

Since then, reissues and prestigious collaborations have followed one another. Some of the rarest and most iconic collections include the Air Jordan 6 Retro Travis Scott.

How does the Air Jordan 6 fit?

Regarding sizing, the Air Jordan 6 runs slightly large, so we advise you to opt for a half-size below your usual shoe size. The vast majority of Jordan 6 sneaker models are unisex, ranging in size from 35 to 47, with pairs suitable for both men and women.
