Everything seemed to be going well for the two Dassler legends. Their business was thriving with worldwide notoriety, orders were pouring in, and turnover was increasing every day. However, their success also contributed to their downfall. The pressure of a growing company highlighted their differences in character and management leading to an unnamed Dassler versus Dassler rivalry. Additionally, the two men's difference in political opinion created multiple internal conflicts, ultimately leading to an irreparable rift. Indeed, both men were ardent admirers of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP), Hitler's Nazi regime in Germany. Adi was more reserved and seemed less involved in the political activities of the Nazi Party . Rudolf, on the other hand, was more openly pro-Nazi and more politically active. He had a stronger temperament and was more engaged in party activities. The two friends' thirst for power over their Dassler sports shoe company led to the beginning of their downfall...
The separation of the Dassler brothers following numerous quarrels and a rivalry greater than their brotherly love marked the end of Gebrüder Dassler as they knew it, but also the birth of two trainers giants. Adolf, nicknamed Adi Dassler , retained the single main German factory and patents, representing the majority of the company. In 1949, he registered the Adidas brand, which quickly enjoyed resounding success and established itself as a prominent place in the global sports business.

For his part, Rudolf decided to create his own sports trainers company. Initially named Ruda, the company didn't really take off. A few years later, Rudolf wanted to rename his company Puma , and began to boost his business with very successful marketing. Thus, two of the biggest trainers brands created by Adi and Rudolf are born, ready to compete with other market leaders in sneakers for athletes like Nike .
