The art of comfort, by New balance

Created by William J. Riley, a young shoemaker, in 1906, New Balance has become the benchmark brand in the world of sneakers. The primary function of these shoes was orthopedic. The target was anyone suffering from foot pain, so the insoles were designed to provide better arch support. Then, delegating the business to his daughter, New Balance turned to the world of running sneakers, unveiling the New Balance Trackster model. Today, pairs from this emblematic brand are no longer just for walking, but also for everyday wear, thanks to the effectiveness of its design: simple with a sportswear look. As a result, we've seen a real appropriation of this pair in minimalist looks, especially with the New Balance 550. But also more streetwear styles, with the New Balance 2002R, which give the appearance of coming back from the gym while still being well-dressed. In other words, everyone can find New Balance to suit their feet by becoming the "dad shoes" par excellence.

All versions of the New Balance 990 for men and women

One of the brand's most coveted silhouettes is the New Balance 990, unveiled by an American outfitter, which in 1982 became the first pair of sports shoes to be sold for $100. While today's price may seem perfectly normal, back then it was a different story. Its price gave the impression of buying a luxurious shoe by investing in it. It was also a symbolic price which, for the first time, was achieved for a sports sneaker. However, this price was explained by the use of certain materials. What's more, a hype was created around the sneaker, which was therefore difficult to afford. As a result, the sneaker's reputation spread, and it became loved by sports enthusiasts and sneaker addicts alike as a shoe for everyday wear. Following its first version, New Balance continued production, reinventing the model to make the NB 990 timeless. The company decided to update the first prototype with a new silhouette incorporating ENCAP sole technology. This sole offers high shock resistance and stability, which was to become the DNA of the many pairs that followed. The New Balance 990 sneaker is still very much in vogue, and version 3 has a much lighter look, with mesh inserts and perforated uppers. The famous "N" on the side of the sneaker continues its utilitarian style. In addition, the name of the pair can be found on the outer heel. Last but not least, the New Balance 990v3 collection features effective colorways, such as the New Balance 990 V3 Levi's Blue, or the New Balance 990 V3 JJJJound Olive.

How do New balance 990s fit?

The New Balance 990 fits both men and women normally, like all the brand's other models. Our advice is to take your usual size. To find out which size to choose, simply compare your French size (EU) with your American size (US). To ensure comfort in your New Balance sneakers, choosing the right size is essential, whether you're going for your daily jog or simply strolling around in your finest outfits.
