The Air Max 1 Patta collection
“ Patta ” is a streetwear boutique based in Amsterdam, the Dutch capital. It was founded in 2004 by two friends passionate about music and hip-hop: Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt. Why “Patta”? Because this word means “ trainer ” in the Suriname dialect, the country of origin of the two founders who are passionate about Nike trainers .
Here, we're talking about a store dedicated to true trainers lovers . The founders started by hunting for rare streetwear and trainers pieces, even those that could not be found in the United States, then importing them into their country to put them on sale in their store.
With their keen eye and good taste, they quickly gained a reputation, particularly among trainers addicts looking for that rare gem, because they knew Patta would have them. As their success grew, they eventually launched their own 90s-influenced streetwear collection and brand.
Little by little, the store became a reference in its field, to the point of crossing paths with Nike in 2006, which gave rise to the Nike Patta collaboration two years after the opening of the store. From the latter will result pairs of Patta trainers as well as clothing.
The Air Max Patta: A legendary trainer
It was on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the creation of the store that the first Air Max 1 Patta were born. It's not one or two Patta Nike , but five that have seen the light of day. They take the structure of the Air Max 1 designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1987, and are all released in very few copies. Collector’s Patta Air Max 1s !
On this occasion, the Air Max 1 Patta Chlorophyll was notably unveiled. This pair of Nike shoes features green denim accents on its upper along with gray suede and white mesh overlays, which give it that unique artistic touch. We can also notice the distinctive Patta logo on the tongue. This simple, but well thought out design now makes it one of the most beautiful versions of the Air Max line ever released.
Although Patta has made the Air Max 1 its favorite structure, the shop has also imagined a unique trainer inspired by the iconic Air Max 90 , whose design was inspired... by cannabis! This recreational plant that can be smoked freely in Amsterdam and which makes this city unique.
The upper of the Patta Air Max 2021 edition is characterized by colorful “wave” patterns arranged above the midsole. No wonder, because this collection is called “The Wave”. This is the case for the Air Max 1 Patta White , but also the Air Max 1 Patta Aqua , whose wavy patterns are dressed in dark blue. The Air Max 1 Patta Monarch or the Air Max 1 Patta Black are adorned with the same aesthetic details. They all feature a gray mesh base with white leather overlays. Colorful shades are deposited in the form of waves above the midsole, the outsole and the Patta logo on the tongue.
