The Air Max 1 Patta Collection
Patta is a streetwear boutique based in Amsterdam, the Dutch capital. It was founded in 2004 by two friends who are passionate about music and hip-hop: Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt . Why “Patta”? Because this word means “ trainer ” in the Surinamese dialect, the country of origin of the two founders who are passionate about trainers .
Here, we are talking about a store dedicated to true trainers lovers. The founders started by hunting for rare streetwear and trainers pieces, even unobtainable in the United States, then importing them into their country to put them on sale in their store.
With their keen eye and good taste, they quickly gained a reputation, especially among trainers addicts looking for the rare gem, because they knew Patta would have them. As their success grew, they eventually launched their own collection and streetwear brand influenced by the nineties.
Little by little, the store became a reference in its field, to the point of crossing paths with Nike in 2006, which gave rise to the Nike Patta collaboration two years after the store opened. The latter would result in pairs of trainers as well as clothing.
The Air Max Patta: A legendary trainer
It was on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the creation of the store that the first Air Max 1 Patta were born. It was not one or two Nike trainers , but five Nike Pattas that were born.
